The current building was put up in the 1950s/60s, and until recently was a print room and office for Dudley Council’s Green Care staff.
Consultation showed that people really wanted to see a café in the park and with the print room building sitting empty in the Tea Gardens. The artist’s impression shows that it is proposed to clad the outside of the building to make it more attractive, introduce new large glazed doors and a roof light to flood the space with light.

The Tea Gardens will be returned to their former glory, through the restoration of the existing steps and balustrades, improvement to the paths and pedestrian circulation and making the area a focus for horticultural excellence.

The Tea Gardens will also include space for outdoor seating for the proposed café.Cafe sketch v.1Untitled-2

The café is due to open to the public at the beginning of the School Summer Holidays (around about the 20th July). Anyone wishing to apply for jobs or make other enquiries should send them to where they will be forwarded onto the external operator
